Periactin eliminates allergy-related symptoms

People who suffer from allergies know all too well what it means to experience nasal congestion, inflammation, flu-like symtoms, swelling, hives, and so on. Me personally? The thing that causes me the most suffering is ‘allergic conjunctivitis’ also called ‘allergy eyes.’ During high pollen season, the itching gets so bad I feel like scratching my eyes out! As you probably know, these reactions are usually produced in reaction to some external stimuli called triggers. For best results with any allergy treatment, the triggers in your own life should be identified and confirmed clinically by professional medical testing.

How does Periactin work?

Belonging to the group of drugs known as antihistamines, Periactin is prescribed for the relief of allergy symptoms that, left untreated, may sometimes even lead to anaphylaxis or other life-threatening reactions to allergens.

Periactin is administered to patients of all ages, but it is important to respect the doctor’s recommendations in order to reduce side effects as much as possible. Periactin can make people feel sleepy and sluggish, though in children’s cases, the exact opposite reaction may be noticed.

Do not take Periactin if you are known to have a sensitivity to its active compounds or to other similar antihistamine substances. Never combine Periactin with any Mood Altering Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI) antidepressant drugs.

If you are already following some kind of medical treatment, make sure that you inform the doctor of your condition before starting a Periactin treatment. The medical response to this drug is immediate and it doesn’t require long term administration to be effective.

Special problems triggered by Periactin

  • It is normal that while taking Periactin to experience a reuction in your responsiveness to stimuli as well as to find alertness slightly impaired.
  • Be careful about driving, climbing, or operating special machinery while using Periactin since you’ll definitely be lacking something in terms of proper coordination.
  • Tell the doctor if you suffer from bronchial asthma. Though allergic reactions are often related to asthma, Periactin may not be the right treatment for you.
  • Other health conditions that are incompatible with Periactin administration include glaucoma, hyper active thyroid, or high blood pressure.

Periactin side effects

While taking Periactin, you may lose your appetite and even develop anemia. A proper diet and mineral supplements should help you get through this inconvenience.

Constipation, diarrhea, and frequent urination are often related to Periactin treatments.

Women may have their period earlier than expected, and also may experience dry mouth.

However, anaphylaxis caused by Periactin remains the most dangerous side effect that requests immediate medical assistance. If your doctor is not available go to the emergency service right away.
